OJSC VCNG was established in April 2002. Its main activity is development of Verkhnechonskoe oil and gas condensate field located in Kataganskiy District, Irkutsk Region, 1100 km north-east of Irkutsk.
Regional geophysical studies in the area of field location was done from 1956 to 1976. The project was launched in 1977. Five years later the structure contour was expanded significantly following seismic completion. Exploration drilling in the filed started in 1979, appraisal drilling was done betwenn 1983 and 1993. 100 wells have been drilled during E&A phase.
Commercial production in the filed started on October 15, 2008. The field has to reach the production maximum of 7-8 million tons/year in 2014-2015.
