    The explosive growth of the oil industry in the 1960s demanded a big input of labor. As a result, the Orenburg area started attracting people from other regions. Over nearly seven decades of strong oil production growth, more than 4,000 wells were drilled in the Orenburg area. Geologists advanced into the region from the northwest heading towards south. Oil producers started in Buguruslan and by the 1960s had arrived in the Buzuluk district. >>
